An Evaluation of Unionidae Diversity in the Rocky River and How Population Density
has Changed Over Time in Comparison to Observations made Over 15 Years Ago.
I spent some time on Catalina Island as well as at the Birch Aquarium and the North Carolina Aquarium learning about how these facilities run and take care of their patients and animals.
During my time on an island east of Tahiti known as Moorea, I worked with CSUN to look at coral respiration in response to different light intensities as well as different fresh and saltwater concentrations.
While in Northern California I was lucky enough to observe how the crab fishing industry works and how fishermen hunt, catch and identify male crabs , absconding from taking gravid females so that they can continue to reproduce
While in Mexico, I was able to look at why Devil Ray aggregations occur seeing as they are the only species of ray to exhibit this grouping behavior. We used aerial footage and sonograms to observe if these groupings take place as a form of sexual selection or as traveling nursing stations
Working with an NGO in Argentina I worked with fellow phychologists to take a look at different Seaweed populations and helped to separate and identify samples
In South Africa, I worked with a master's student to investigate octopus feeding behaviors and habits to see if certain prey were favored over others
